What will you do?
As an Operations Engineer, you will be at the heart of our global ecosystem, maintaining and ensuring its continuous operation. This role demands a flexible mindset, proficiency in using various monitoring tools, and the ability to detect and address potential issues before they become critical. Your quick problem-solving skills and occasional need for creative solutions will be invaluable. While proficiency in modern technologies is essential, we highly value foundational skills and deep low-level knowledge of operating systems and core technical principles. Result areas and responsibilities

Innovative Problem-Solving: Employ quick and creative problem-solving skills to address challenges and improve system performance and reliability.

Monitoring and Issue Resolution: Leverage Google Cloud Platform (GCP) monitoring tools, such as Cloud Monitoring and Cloud Logging, or similar tools from other providers. Proactively identify and address potential issues before they escalate, ensuring the continuous and smooth operation of our web platforms by resolving problems early.

Foundational Skills: Demonstrate a solid understanding of basic principles, especially in operating systems like Ubuntu. This includes skills such as managing system processes, understanding file systems, handling user permissions, and using the command line proficiently. The focus is on being skilled in these essential, traditional techniques rather than relying solely on the latest tools and technologies.

Backend Development: Advise and support development teams on advanced backend techniques, including optimizing database queries, implementing caching mechanisms, and handling concurrent requests. A strong background in software development is required for this role.

Programming Languages: Demonstrate expert-level knowledge of PHP, with experience in Golang as a valuable bonus but not essential. Understand advanced features like closures, interfaces, and traits. Utilize complex algorithms and design patterns to effectively guide development teams.

Google Cloud Experience: Manage and troubleshoot applications on GCP, consistently monitor resources, and perform detailed log analysis to ensure peak performance and high uptime. Your efforts will maintain seamless and reliable application operation.

Microservices Architecture: Show a solid understanding of microservices-based applications, focusing on service discovery and asynchronous communication principles to ensure system scalability and reliability. Experience with these concepts is a valuable bonus but not strictly required.

Job requirements for our Ops Engineer:

Minimum 7 yrs work experience in a BE position.

Effective Communication: Collaborate seamlessly within a diverse team, fostering an inclusive work culture and effectively supporting the objectives of our global programs.

Continuous Improvement: Engage in ongoing learning and development opportunities to stay current with industry trends and best practices, continuously improving skills and contributing to the team’s success.

Possesses perfect command of the English language, both verbally and in writing. Dutch is a plus!
